In going through the experience of block, I think I'm going to be strengthening time management skills because I am already finding myself trying to do that. I am learning the lesson that technology is wonderful, but it's always a good idea to have a back-up plan in case things don't go quite the way they're expected to. That way, you're never caught without something to do when you're scheduled to fill a time slot with something meaningful, or you're not caught without an assignment that you're supposed to hand in. It's always better to be prepared ahead of time if possible.
Another thing I learned is that having a group of people you can ask questions and go over things with can be very beneficial when it comes to stress management. It's also nice to have people that are going through the same thing you. It makes it feel less intimidating. Our classes are full of friendly people and professors who want us all to succeed. The supportive environment is helping me feel less overwhelmed. I knew before that a supportive environment was beneficial, but I'm starting to learn it to a greater degree this semester. So thanks to everyone who is there for me to ask questions. I hope to be able to answer a few for you as well.
Brittany,
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of us took this assignment more literally than you, and I really like your take on this week in Block.
You are so right about sleep, and time management. I am already feeling overwhelmed and I feel almost as if I'm sliding backwards down a hillside when it comes to all the things we've been assigned.
That said, I completely agree with you when you said that having other people that are in the same situation as you and are also feeling a little bogged down helps. We can ask questions and bounce ideas off each other. We have support from students and faculty. It makes things a little less scary to know that there have been people who have gone before us and succeeded and that people are in the same boat as us right now. Best of luck to you, and if you need anything, let me know. =]
I couldn't agree with you more about time management skills. I have learned very quickly to use all the time i can to do work. It is also very nice having the group of people we have to lean on and look to support.
ReplyDeleteI agree. If you don't have good time management skills then, quickly you learn them. Technology is helpful, but I feel we shouldn't rely on it too much. Yet, it still can help expand classroom. You are also right with the stress management by talking with others.
ReplyDeleteI agree, its really nice to talk to others who are working through the same homework assingments. Sleep is important for me also! :)
ReplyDeleteBrittany, I enjoyed reading your post because I can relate to you on several different topics. I also realized how bad I am at naming our states on a map. I thought I would have done better at that! Sleep is something that I also need in order to stay focused and on top of my school work! However I have a feeling there will be days where I will not be getting enough due to homework!
